imu ita dadua riak!

Hello everyone! 大家好!Pazeh People have always lived in what is now known as Taiwan, in the Fengyuan area of Taichung. Like many other Indigenous people from the western plains, some of our communities were forced to migrate to Puli, Miaoli, and Yilan, where we remain today while some remain in the Taichung. We stand strong in our identity and continue to pass our identity, language, and culture, through the generations.

We are still here!

We have always been here. Pazeh People call on the Taiwanese government for recognition alongside the 16 other recognized Indigenous Peoples of Taiwan.

History

Pazeh People originally lived in the western plains of present-day Taichung in the Fengyuan area. Due to factors such as settler colonial encroachment, land loss, internal power struggles, etc., the situation of the Pazeh People began to decline. Because of this pressure, in the early 1800s, there were a series of migrations of Pazeh People to Puli, Miaoli, and Yilan.

Revitalization Efforts

Pazeh People continue to exist and have long been working together to maintain and revive language, weaving, and other cultural practices despite cultural interruptions due to colonialism.Although Pazeh New Years celebrations stopped for a period of time, since 1999, it has been revived and Pazeh New Years is once again celebrated every year around November.
